LegalEase Solutions, which provides customized legal solutions for corporations, in-house legal departments and law firms, has acquired the leading contract lifecycle management (CLM) consulting firm CLM Gurus, along with key executives and staff.

The acquisition adds senior talent and experience for the company’s end-to-end CLM implementation offerings, which encompass selection, requirement scoping, migration, abstraction, technology integration and change management.

“Successful and cost-effective CLM implementation requires a holistic and strategic approach at every stage to get it right, which is missing with many deployments right now,” said LegalEase CEO and co-founder Tariq Akbar. “With Jim O’Hare and his team joining LegalEase, we have added some of the best CLM talent out there to bolster every aspect of our services for enterprise clients. It has also significantly enhanced our onshore U.S. delivery team, complementing our substantial offshore delivery capability.”

CLM Gurus co-founder and CEO Jim O’Hare will serve as Vice President, CLM Services and will lead the vertical for LegalEase. Rita Zandbergs and Spencer Essey both join as directors.

“We’re excited to join LegalEase, a legal tech pioneer for 17 years with a well-deserved reputation for guiding prominent in-house legal departments through all phases of legal transformation,” said O’Hare. “This is an exciting time for CLM, and working within LegalEase will ensure we can address a substantial need in a massively growing market.”

“CLM success depends on identifying the right internal and external teams, blending strategic direction around selection of the right platform, and deploying the right technical and change management skills,” said LegalEase president and co-founder Tariq Hafeez. “There is an art to ensuring the CLM solution addresses a company’s needs and continues to evolve with the business. With Jim and his team onboard, we have built a dominant offering for the CLM market.”

Akbar, Hafeez and O’Hare are available for interviews to discuss the acquisition and what it means for LegalEase and its offerings. They are also available to address the impact this will have on the wider CLM space, including:

  • What the acquisition shows about the current CLM market, the needs of enterprise clients and the options available.
  • Why certain CLM implementations are failing or costing more than expected due to improper strategic direction, planning and change management.
  • Why having both an onshore and offshore team is essential to providing effective CLM implementation services at a competitive price.
