An article by Gartner forecasts that by 2025, legal departments will increase their legal technology spend by 300%. With budgets, goals, and requirements in mind, this team can brainstorm and anticipate needs and expenditure before approaching migration.

  • General Counsel or associate General Counsel
  • Stakeholders in IT and finance
  • Project Manager 
  • Business Development Executives

2. Creating a Use Case Strategy 

The goal of legal tech platform migration is to solve the legal department’s needs. In order to do so, a use case strategy has to be formulated. This can be created in conjunction with the platform selection team. Stakeholders, the integration team, and users of the platform will need to be apprised and their feedback collected. 

With this use case strategy in place, it’s easier for legal departments to block out seemingly interesting features with no value. A customized use case strategy also helps determine which service provider offers the best value, inclusive of all the features needed to match their goals.

3. Review Vendor Support Options 

Migrating to a new legal tech platform isn’t where this journey ends. Beyond implementation, legal departments need to evaluate legal tech providers’ support services. 

Although some legal tech platform providers offer free product support, this may be for a short time only. A few companies have support services which are paid for. 

Reviewing support service options in the migration selection process is vital to its success. Adopting a new service, and not being able to access support for the same can be exhausting.
